I came across Simon’s work via NOTCOT. His flash designed portfolio is simply outstanding. I really enjoy the complexity of his poster work. Also, a very nice touch is that he has some VBA resources on his site as well. It’s nice to see a designer that is rounded enough to know how to put together a data workbook, if the job calls for it. The type-based logo design are very, very cool. I you have a few extra minutes to spare this weekend, spend some here.

I’m really bummed out about it, as it is always an amazing week. Given the situation of the economy, it’s still refreshing to hear they expect 40,000 visitors. The whole week (Dec 1st-6th) is jam packed with outstanding exhibitions, shows, and events. If you do make it to South Beach, make an effort to stop in the Miami Design District. Droog is set to return to Design Miami, a satellite event of Art Basel Miami Beach. They featured a very cool exhibit last year, as well as Taschen Books. If anyone has some pictures of the event(s), please feel free to email me: mpope@thecapm.com.

Airside is a creative agency based out of London. This studio has turned out some outstanding work with a pop/modern focus. Recently they put together Airside, a hardback book showcasing the studio’s work throughout the first 10 years. The book is full of abstract, geometrical creations; something I’m a huge fan of. The Airside website is amazing as well, brandishing a simple, sleek feel to it. It’s use of Flash is subtle and never overbearing. Be sure to spend a few minutes here.

    I came across this amazing work via SeptemberIndustry.

    Method    , a agency based in San Francisco, New York, and London worked with the San Fransisco Film Festival to create a body of work that was a “total departure from the look of previous festivals” for SFiFF and proved to be a smash. Method based the logotype on “a hard-edged, solid type with a Constructivist, international edge.” What I enjoy must is the way the logo primes one to reflect on film strips, in a timeless manner. I highly recommend spending some time reading through their case studies. Very good stuff.
